Marianne Faithfull looks back on six remarkable decades in music in a documentary that refuses to follow the usual rules. Inside a fictional “Ministry of Not Forgetting”, a record keeper played by George MacKay asks about her life and work while Tilda Swinton presides and fellow musicians add their memories. Archival material and new performances trace Faithfull’s transformations, setbacks and fierce independence, giving the legendary singer space to tell her story in her own voice.
